What happens when I submit an enquiry

Once I received your enquiry, I will be in touch to discuss the options available and find out more information if required to create a quotation for your set up.

I do not have an existing website, so what should I enter into the website address field

If you do not have an existing website please leave this field blank.

I use this information to gain a better understanding of the products you are selling.

Which platforms are you able to import product data from

The data that can be imported will depend on what can be exported from your current platform.

During the set up I will advise you how to export the required data, which I will then map into the Shopify template ready for importing into your new Shopify site.

If the data required by Shopify is not available in the export, you will be advised on additional work that will be required by yourself.

Will I need to do any additional work to listings imported from another platform

When migrating data from another platform, the quality and amount of data available differs from platform to platform.

Therefore it is likely that there will be a level of additional work required to format the data or add any missing data to complete the store set up.

During the migration process, I will attempt to cleanse the data exported from your current platform, in an attempt to minimise the amount of work required by yourself.

What will I need to supply for the Home, About and Contact Pages

You will need to provide any content and images that you would like to have displayed on the Home and About pages.

For the Contact page, you will need to provide the content that you would like to be made public (i.e. email, business address, telephone number).

I can provide guidance on file size etc. once you have selected a Shopify theme to use on your site.

How does the Shopify Privacy App help with GDPR

Shopify uses both essential and non-essential cookies in order for the website to function correctly and report on some user behaviour and sales analytics. The privacy app displays a banner for the user to agree to or decline the use of cookies.

If a user declines the use of cookies then only essential cookies are used (required for the website to operate) and other cookies are downgraded to ‘session’ cookies, meaning the cookie will expire whenever the user closes their browser. If you have connected a Google Analytics account to your Shopify site, then the tracking code will not be executed and no data will be sent to Google Analytics.

If a user consents to the use of cookies and sharing data, then the Shopify non-essential cookies will be set to persistent and will not expire when the browser is closed. Making the cookies persistent allows for Shopify to identify returning customers etc. for reporting. Any other tracking code, such as Google Analytics will also be executed if a user were to opt into the use of cookies.

This information can be found at https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/your-account/privacy/cookies

Is training available if I need a little more help

Yes, I offer hourly online training sessions which can be found by clicking here.

I also have a YouTube channel, where I cover a number of topics related to the set up and running of a Shopify Site. Subscribe to the channel and remeber to sign up for alerts to get notified when I release new content.

How much will a Shopify theme cost

The Shopify Theme store contains both free to use and Premium themes. Click here to see the current themes available from the Shopify Theme Store and their prices.

Themes can also be purchased from third party websites, such as envatomarket These may be cheaper than those on the Shopify Theme Store, but bear in mind the level of support and quality of the theme may differ. Shopify has a set of guidelines that developers must adhere to.

It is worth looking at customer reviews, to get an idea of the quality of the theme and support given.

If I decide to use a Premium Shopify Theme, When will I need to pay for the theme

This will depend on whether or not any code customisation is required before the site goes live, and where the theme was purchased from.

If code customisation is required, then you will need to pay for the theme during the development phase, as the theme code is not accessible until purchased.

Third-party themes will need to be purchased immediately, as they will need to be imported into Shopify to use.

If there are no code customisations required, then you would be charged for the theme before site ownership is transferred from a development store to yourself as the store owner.

Is a Premium Theme a one time cost

Most Shopify themes are purchased with a one off payment and include free access to future updates.

However you should always check that this is the case for the theme that you decide to use for your site.

Although the theme developer may offer access to udated versions of the theme Free of Charge, it is worth notiing that work may be required to move content from an existing version to the newer theme version (additional costs may apply)

What if I change my mind once I've purchased a Shopify Theme. Can I get a refund

A majority of theme developers do not offer refunds for themes that have been purchased, therefore it is strongly advised that you look at the Terms and Conditions before making the purchase.

If the theme has been purchased by Artisan IT on your behalf, and the theme developer does not offer refunds, then the cost will be non-refundable.

Once launched who will have access and ownership of the website

Ownership of the website will be transferred to yourself, and you will have full access to all settings for the site.

Staff members can be added to the store, allowing access to the site administration area, based on roles and responsibilities that the store owner can control. The number of staff member accounts that you can create is based on the Shopify plan that you choose. The Shopify plan options can be seen here by looking at the plan features.

If you have staff in your company that only need to be notified of orders, but not involved in fulfilling orders on the system, then staff accounts are not required as email notifications can be set up to inform these members of staff.

When a developer store created by Artisan IT is transferred to the store owner, Artisan IT will be added as a collaborator with limited access. The great thing about a collaborator account, is it allows me to access your Shopify store using my own login to provide technical assistance, without having to use up one of your staff accounts.

As a store owner you have the ability to remove  collaborator access at any time.

Is support provided

Shopify offers free support to all customers when signed up to a Shopify plan.

I also offer technical support and online training charged by the hour.

What are DNS settings

DNS (Domain Name Server) settings will need to be set, so that web traffic is routed to your Shopify Site.

Email authentication DNS settings are required, to reduce the likelihood of email servers flagging emails sent from Shopify as spam.

Artisan IT Ltd are a Shopify Partner

Disclaimer

As a Shopify Partner I will receive a small commission on monthly payments made by store owners to Shopify. This only occurs when a development store built by Artisan IT is transferred to a store owner, who then goes onto to purchase a Shopify plan.

The commission payment is made by Shopify, meaning your subscription fees paid to Shopify would be the same whether you have a development site built by me, or built the site using Shopify’s free trial.
